University of North Texas (www.unt.edu) Mean Green is another institution with several different offerings in the field of Masters of Education programs. Choose from MS degrees in Educational Psychology, Educational Psychology with emphasis in Gifted and talented Students or a Masters of Education in Special Education with emphasis in Autism Education. The University of North Texas is a major bargain for Texas residents at $178 per credit hour. Nonresidents pay $498 per credit hour plus some additional fees.
West Texas A&M University (www.wtam.edu) West Texas offers a full line of Masters in Teaching from its Department of Education. There are Masters of Education degrees in Administration, Counseling School, Education Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Diagnostician, Instructional Design and Technology, Reading education, and Special Education. Also offered are Masters of Arts in Counseling and Teaching. Like all Texas schools, tuition and fees are low for residents and much higher for nonresidents $50/$360 per credit hour. While West Texas A&M has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5, this is more of a goal than a rule. The school promises to work with students who have lower grades but will not permit graduation until the GPA is brought up to an acceptable standard.
